Charles Zappia

Dr. Zappia earned a B.A. in History at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, and went on to earn an M.A. in History from San Jose State University and a Ph.D., also in History, from the University of California at Berkeley.

Dr. Zappia became a contract professor at Mesa College in 1986 and quickly became recognized as an authority in U.S. history with special knowledge in the areas of labor, immigration and ethnicity. After a successful career in the classroom, he become chair of the Social Sciences Department and served in that position for nine years, until March 2009, when he became Interim Dean, Social/Behavioral Sciences & Multicultural Studies.

A distinguished scholar and recognized leader in his field, Dr. Charles Zappia assumed his responsibilities as Dean of Social and Behavioral Sciences and Multicultural Studies on July 1, 2011.
