Career Peer Ambassador Team

Career Peer Ambassador - Ashley

Ashley graduated from San Diego Miramar College with an Associate’s Degree for Transfer in Psychology in the Spring of 2022. As of Fall 2023, she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from San Diego State University. Ashley has a passion for service and community-building and hopes to explore this interest within her future endeavors. During her time as a student within the San Diego Community College District, she found Mesa to be an amazing place to develop academically and professionally. She loves being a part of the Career Center as a Career Peer Ambassador, giving students valuable resources as they establish career goals and pursue their next steps within the process. In her perspective, it is a privilege to be a part of the Mesa team that works hard to build an environment based around equity and excellence.

Career Tip: Push yourself to be empathetic towards those around you and take time to validate yourself. We all have things we are trying to figure out so be patient with yourself and others.

Career Peer Ambassador - Dorothy

Dorothy Lee is a student veteran currently pursuing an Associates Degree of Transfer in Psychology at San Diego Mesa College. As a non-traditional student, Dorothy hopes to break social constructs and the fear of being a returning student after a hiatus. She finds joy in meeting new people and aiding in the growth of students' personal and professional development. Dorothy is interested in establishing a career in the education system as a counselor, or working with adolescent patients in the medical field. She believes that career and school is never linear; that every new path that sprouts can always be taken as growth through opportunity.

Career Tip: Network doesn’t always have to be at school or work events. The best time to network is meeting people you would never suspect - like the gym, groceries store, or even on vacation!

Career Peer Ambassador - Brooke

Brooke is a student pursuing an Associate Degree for Transfer in Social Work at San Diego City College. During her first semester, Brooke found her calling to dedicate her academic and professional experiences to learning how to help those in her community. Brooke aspires to be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of California and utilize her personal experience, advocacy work, and knowledge regarding mental health illness and recovery for the betterment of the lives of her peers. She believes that it is an honor to start this journey of achieving her life goals at Mesa College as a Career Peer Ambassador; Brooke feels that the learning valued life skills, employment preparation resources, and connections she has already gained while working at the Mesa Career Center have proved to be an invaluable privilege and gift.

Career Tip: If you’re not sure what you would like to do (or even if you do), keep all doors open! Take different classes, explore different career possibilities, and take this time to discover who you are and what you love to do.
