Mesa College's Student Health Services strives to help you maintain good health and safe habits while you pursue your educational goals. We offer no- and free aid to all currently enrolled students, and strive to offer the health education, services, and resources you need to maintain your physical and mental wellbeing. Take control of your health with safe and confidential support from Student Health Services.

Student Health Services will close at 5pm on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.

Students who are enrolled in a for credit class at Mesa may receive services at Student Health.
  • Students in a non-credit class are not eligible.
  • Continuing Education students are not eligible even if they attend on the Mesa Campus.
  • SDCCD students who are enrolled in a for-credit class at Mesa, City or Miramar can go to any Student Health office.

For Students in Crisis
Crisis counseling is available in the Health Center located in I4-209.
Monday-Thursday: 8:00am-5:00pm
Friday: 8:00am-12:00pm

You may either stop by the Center during these windows or make an appointment to speak with a counselor. If you are unable to visit the Health Center, please access a community crisis line at 1-888-724-7240.

Make an Appointment

To schedule an appointment to meet with a nurse practitioner, physician, or counselor, you may either call 619-388-2774 or visit Student Health Services in person in I4-209. Please be prepared to discuss your health concerns so we can find the appropriate provider for your visit. If you can no longer make your appointment, please call us at least 24 hours ahead of your scheduled appointment time to cancel or reschedule. There is a late cancellation/no show fee of $5.00 for all appointment services.

Should you need access to quick health support with a short-term illness or other ailment, nurse practitioners are available by appointment. If you are in need of urgent services, walk-ins are sometimes accepted on case by case basis.

Measuring Health on Campus

To get a better understanding of the health beliefs, activities, and wellness of our community, Mesa College's Student Health Services partnered with the American College Health Association and conducted a survey that gauges the physical and mental health of our students. Who is Eligible to Use Student Health Services?

Student Health Services are available to all students who are currently enrolled and attending classes at Mesa College. As part of your student enrollment, you are required to pay a mandatory fee for health services and accident insurance that covers most services at the Health Center. The fee is $20 during fall and spring semesters and $17 for Mesa College's summer session. Exemptions are limited but may be possible if:

  • You or your household receives SSI/SSP (not to be confused with benefits from the Social Security Administration), TANF/CalWorks, or funds from the General Assistance Program. If you feel that this may apply to you, please contact the Financial Aid Office.
  • You depend solely on prayer for healing. If you feel that this may apply to you, please contact the Admission's Office.

 

Student Accident Insurance

Accident insurance coverage is available for all students for any injury sustained on campus during regular attendance at college, while attending college sponsored activities, and traveling under college supervision to and from activities (excluding extramural athletics covered under Athletic Accident Insurance).
