Student Health Center
#
Mesa College's team of nurse practitioners, physicians, and counselors will work
closely with you to provide the high quality services and care you need to maintain
your health. With many services covered by the Student Health Fee that you pay as
part of your enrollment, we strive to make care accessible at little to no cost to
you.
Students who are enrolled in a
for credit class at Mesa may receive services at Student Health.
- Students in a non-credit class are not eligible.
- Continuing Education students are not eligible even if they attend on the Mesa Campus.
- SDCCD students who are enrolled in a for-credit class at Mesa, City or Miramar can
go to any Student Health office.
Make an Appointment
#
To schedule an appointment to meet with a nurse practitioner, physician, or counselor,
you may either call 619-388-2774 or visit Student Health Services in person in I4-209. Please be prepared to discuss your health concerns so we can find the appropriate
provider for your visit. If you can no longer make your appointment, please call us
at least 24 hours ahead of your scheduled appointment time to cancel or reschedule.
There is a late cancellation/no show fee of $5.00 for all appointment services.
Should you need access to quick health support with a short-term illness or other
ailment, nurse practitioners are available by appointment, if you are in need of urgent
services walk-ins are sometimes accepted on a case by case basis. If it is a medical
emergency call 911.
Crisis Support
#
Crisis counseling is available in the Health Center located in I4-209:
Monday-Thursday: 8:00am-5:00pm
Friday: 8:00am-12:00pm
You may either stop by the Center during these windows or make an appointment
to speak with a therapist. If you are unable to visit the Health Center, please access a community crisis line at 1-888-724-7240.

Counseling and Mental Health Services
#
We offer free, short-term counseling services to help you manage stress, anxiety,
depression, life-changes, behavioral conditions, relationship struggles, questions
about identity, and more! Whatever you are experiencing, we hope you'll speak to one
of the Health Center's personal counselors. You may also consider joining a group
session or activity to find community and stay on top of your mental health.

Services Costs

The below services are payable with cash only at the time of the service. To inquire about the price of a particular service, contact
Student Health Services at 619-388-2774. Please note, there is a late cancellation/no show fee of $5.00 for all appointment
services.
Lab Draws and Cholesterol Testing
#
For health classes that require cholesterol (HDL, LDL, total cholesterol) testing
or your other testing needs, you may make an appointment to have your blood drawn
at the Health Center on Fridays from 9:00-11:00 am. Please do not consume food or
drinks (only water) for at least 10-12 hours before the test, and be sure to drink
plenty of water the morning of your appointment. If you are unable to come at this
time, you may pay $6.00 and have your blood drawn at a nearby drawing station.
Electrocardiogram (ECG)
#
Student Health Services offers electrocardiogram (ECG) testing that can be used
to check your heart's rhythm and electrical activity. Evaluate your heart beat, check
for signs of heart disease, and stay on top of your heart health!

Immunizations
#
We offer the following immunizations and vaccines at no or low costs.
Flu Shot
We offer free flu shots during Flu Season! Call the Center for more information.
Hepatitis A
Series: 2 shots
(if not provided during childhood)
Hepatitis B
Series: 3 shots
Tuberculosis
TB tests are offered:
Mon and Tues 8:00-11:00am, 1:00-4:00pm
Fee: $12 (cash only)
You must return in 48 hours to have the test read and form signed.
Pap Test
#
Getting Pap Tests (Pap smears) helps with your cervical health and identifying
cancers and precancers in the cervix. The test also includes STI screenings for Gonorrhea
and Chlamydia.
Physical Exams
#
Make an appointment to have your physical exam done at the Health Center. Please
bring all forms and immunization information with you, including notation from your
private physician if you have a chronic medical condition, workman's Compensation
case, or ongoing disability issues that you are being properly treated.
Pregnancy Testing
#
Pregnancy tests are available to students for $10 cash only. An appointment with
a Nurse Practitioner is required.
